36Volt Cordless Chainsaws - A Revolution In Garden Power Tools
Whether you are cutting down trees, trimming a few branches or maybe just doing a little pruning around the garden, having the right tools for the job can make the task so much easier.
If you are a gardener you probably have a selection of cutting and sawing tools stored in your garden shed. Each one is specially designed for a specific task.
- Secateurs. Ideal for cutting small twigs and thin branches. Small enough to kept in your pocket and ready for use.
- Pruning Knives. Also pocket sized and used for taking small cuttings from shrubs etc. for planting on without causing undue damage and trimming the cutting to a suitable shape and size.
- Long handled loppers. Best for the slightly bigger and maybe, higher branches. These are also available with extend-able handles for greater reach.
- Telescopic pruners. For the really high branches, up to ten feet or more. These can slice through one inch branches with ease, although anything thicker becomes progressively more difficult.
- Bow Saws. Great for sawing those small branches which are too big for the previous four tools. Bow saws come in different sizes so it's not a bad idea to keep a small one and a larger one in the shed. Keeping the blades oiled and covered to prevent them from going rusty and becoming blunt will save much time and effort in the future.
- Chainsaws. This is what is needed for cutting those bigger branches and for cutting down the occasional tree!
Some, or all of the first five are quite likely to be found in your garden shed.
But a Chainsaw?
Big, heavy, noisy, smelly, oily monsters used by loggers maintaining forests and cutting down trees the size of, well, big trees!
Not the the sort of power tool you'd find in the average garden shed, surely?
Well, things have moved on in the design of chainsaws. No longer big and heavy and exclusively powered by either petrol or mains electricity - both of which have serious convenience and safety issues.
Petrol powered means keeping a supply of highly inflammable liquid fuel in your garden shed and having to refill the chainsaws's fuel tank on a frequent basis.
Mains electric powered chainsaws often means having 240volts ac in the garden, possibly using several extension leads to get to the far end of the garden. Not the safest situation, particularly in damp or wet conditions.
Suffering injury, or worse, from fire or electrocution is not something to be dismissed lightly as accidents can unfortunately be caused by both of these factors. Your personal safety and that of others should always be taken seriously.
But there is now an alternative to petrol and mains electricity power tools in the garden - Battery Power!
Cordless, battery powered chainsaws have been available for some time but they have tended to be fairly low power and although quite capable for small jobs, no match for their higher powered cousins.
Things have now changed though! Battery Cordless Chainsaws are now available powered by a new generation of Lithium Ion Batteries. These are not 14 or 18 Volts, but a massive 36 Volts!
36 Volt Battery power makes these new Cordless Chainsaws more than a good match for most mains electric chainsaws and will give many petrol powered chainsaw a good run for their money too!
Being cordless also means that these new cordless chainsaws are truly ‘go anywhere' power tools.
- No more cans of fuel to store or carry around.
- No more mains leads to have run along the ground to the workplace. Each extension leads provides another possibility of power loss due to being accidentally pulled apart.
- No trip hazard - no cable!
- No possibility of cutting the power cable. Of course, a safety electrical trip-switch will cut the power quickly, but the cable will still need repairing - or preferably replacing. More expense!
- Really no restrictions in where they can be used.
And because they are battery powered they are also electronically controlled, making them inherently safer as they can be automatically powered off, rapidly, in the event of a kick-back or jam.
These new Li-Lion batteries can be recharged in under 90 minutes - during a well earned, long lunch break perhaps? Or maybe you could have a spare battery, charged up and ready to go for the afternoon stint!
These new 36volt battery cordless chainsaws can cut up to one hundred, four inch branches on one charge, so getting a whole day's work out of one charge is quite feasible and more than likely with two charges or two batteries!
A 36Volt Cordless Chainsaw could be an ideal new addition to any garden-shed tool-arsenal, bringing with it:
- Convenience
- Power to get the job done
- Go anywhere practicality
- Greater safety.
I am convinced that the future of garden power tools is with these new 36Volt Power Tools and certainly with 36volt Cordless Chainsaws.
