Black & Decker SPCM1936 Cordless Lawn Mower Review
Features to Look for When You Are Buying Cordless Lawn Mowers
If you are looking to buy a new cordless lawn mower it can difficult to work out where to start, especially if you have been used to gas powered or corded electric lawn mowers. While there are of course broad similarities with traditional mowers there are some important differences which you should take into account before making your purchase.
The first thing you should consider is what sort of lawn you have. In particular you should ask yourself these questions:
How big is my lawn?
Is my lawn flat or on a slope?
Thinking first about the size of your lawn, you will need to check out the battery life of the mower you are considering. The best cordless lawn mowers will cut up to a third of an acre from a single charge, although will vary slightly according whether the grass is wet or dry, and of course how long it is.
If your lawn is larger than a third of an acre, then don't despair, a cordless mower may still be an option for you. The easiest way to address this is to buy a model that has a removable battery and then buy a second battery. This way once the battery in the mower has lost its charge you can simply swap them over. If this is an issue for you, then you should how easily the battery is removed.
With regards to whether or not your lawn is on a slope, this is relevant because most cordless lawn mowers are not self-propelled. This is in contrast to gas powered mowers which usually are. There is a very good reason for this however, to add this function to a cordless mower would add additional strain on the battery and would significantly reduce the area you are able to mow on a single charge.
In order to compensate for this you will find that cordless lawn mowers are generally not nearly as heavy as their gas powered counterparts; in fact the heaviest component is usually the battery. Therefore it is pretty easy to push it along. However, if you have a slope you should check the weight, particularly if you think this may be an issue for you.
Most cordless lawn mowers have a 3-in-1 feature. This refers to how it disposes of the grass clipping and gives you the choice of cutting the clippings into fine pieces to make a mulch which is dispersed over your lawn, you can simply discharge the clippings out of the side of the mower, or you can collect them in a rear bag in the traditional way. This is not a feature of all mowers however, so you should bear this in mind.

Cordless Chainsaw Recommendation?
Hi all, I am looking to purchase a cordless chainsaw and wanted to know if anyone out there had one and/or could give a recommendation on which brand is best. I don't need a gas chainsaw and electric is a pain. We have about 1/2 acre and need to take down 10-15 small (8-10" dia) trees over the next several months. I don't need anything hardcore, just something so that I don't have to keep borrowing my neighbor's chainsaw.
Answer:
Don't waste your money on a cordless chainsaw. You'll burn up a set of batteries on the first tree. It's one thing to cut it down, then you have to cut it up. Cordless is ok for branches only.
Get a Huskvarnna. When the job is done, sell it at a garage sale and you should get more than half your money back because it is name brand. If you don't want to spend that kind of money, get a good handsaw not for lumber but for green trees. Good means $50
